Description
An electrolytic capacitor is a type of capacitor that uses an electrolyte to produce a higher capacitance than other types of capacitors. It is a polarized capacitor whose anode or positive plate is made of metal that forms an insulating oxide layer which acts as dielectric of the capacitor. The negative plate or cathode is made of solid, liquid or gel electrolyte that forms an insulating oxide layer.
